The theme, it seems, will be drama and indecision.

We have a dinner to bond with the CASA board this Thursday at 5.30 (in Commons?), ostensibly to repair some of the hard feelings over new years celebrations, and all that drama.

MIXER DRAMA! ViSA? ViSA and CASA?! and KASY?!?!?! just CASA?! who knows? well, there have been separate emails sent about this, but to sum up: On 2/29 (Friday) we will possibly with ViSA in Kelvin's suite in Welch C, but CASA wants to do a mixer in the Saybrook Athenaeum room with us, and possibly KASY (not CUSY), as well, which would be humongous. We're just so popular.

There was drama over usage rights to La Casa, but that seems to have been worked out/in the process of being worked out by Adrian and May, who had a lovely visit to our illustrious dominion.

Cultural dinner! When is it going to happen? Well, with the date of the CASA cultural show in continuous flux throughout the time-space continuum, it is hard to decide whether to bill it with the cultural show, as age-old (2 years) tradition would have us do, or with the pan-cultural comedy show, which hasn't been receptive to billing the two events together. However, the comedy show is good for Hee-sun's schedule, so it remains a very viable option.

CUSY panel isn't going to happen, apparently, so that's out. Good thing Chernmaster's got Ang Lee in the bag (literally, he kidnapped him last night and he's keeping Lee in his dresser drawer), he'll be contacting Lee's agent later this week to work out the details for a bloodless handover.

TAS newsletter looks sweet, we'll be folding at next week's board meeting for distribution.

Gingerbread house making family event is tentatively scheduled for 3/6 from 8-10, pending available space and also some AASA event that may or may not happen. We need to buy materials and get families to RSVP so we have a rough count of people to expect. Should be epic.

That's all I've got, have a good week,
Jeff

Upcoming Events

4/12/08, Saturday: TAS Cultural Dinner

4/19/08, Saturday: CASPY, 11:00 AM-4:00 PM in WLH, http://yale.facebook.com/event.php?eid=11867123133
register at http://fs8.formsite.com/yalecaspy/form307722119/index.htm

Contact Kevin Shen at kevin.shen@yale.edu for more info!

Minutes from Meetings of Yore...

Minutes from 2/3/08:

Jin Chen and Kubler Khan, returning from war with the savage fury of the pavement in the far-off land of Silliman victorious thanks to some timely-imbibed courage juice, continued onwards with their duties and pleased their faithful court in spite of major battle wounds, or, as I would call it, HONOR. Debaucheries aside, this was a very productive calling together of the orders that be.

As yet another illustrious lunar new years that is sure to bring further glory to TAS approaches, the cunning rat keeps a watchful eye over the board in wait of FIRECRACKER:

Tuesday will see another summit of world powers (ViSA, TAS, AASA, JASU) in the great hall of linsly-chittenden at 8 hours past the midday mark to discuss the proceedings of the night in question and to finalize any "volunteers" (a.k.a. sacrifices)

TUESDAY, 8pm, LC - Meeting to finalize logistics and volunteers for firecracker

We will be concocting our notorious comestibles and delectable vittles (boba and almond tofu jelly) on the eve of Firecracker, and again right before

THURSDAY, 8pm, AACC/La Casa - cooking and setting of the almond tofu jelly and brewing of the tea

FRIDAY, 1pm, AACC/La Casa - cooking the boba and finishing the dishes

There will be a final assemblage when the festivities are upon us, followed by the festooning of the Pierson mead hall

FRIDAY, 7pm, AACC - everyone meets to go over to Pierson to set up for the event

We must engage our subjects in our dominion, peasants and all, to assist in this jubilee, and sent couriers far and wide to spread the word of our generoisity and merriment

EMAIL panlist to look for volunteers, and let everyone know about the event again

EMAIL the CASPY panlist, inviting the parents and children to attend

CHANGE your facebook profile picture

The Chernmaster continues on his quest to find the elusive Ang Lee, donning his Steve Erwin kakhis for the epic quest. He was frustrated and overpowered, however, by the shrill shreik ("really bitchy voice) of Lee's protectorate (agent). He is planning a second quest, and hopes that, armed with a specific topic in mind for a master's tea type event, he will be successful.

2/15 promises to be another successful TAS night out on the town, with Steph looking into Silliflicks and excitement abounding throughout the kingdom of TAS.
These are some of the movies I've got, I'm not sure which ones have English subtitles and which do not:

夜，上海(about two fated lovers in shanghai)

我们俩(about an old woman and a young girl who get stuck living together)

看上去很美(about a boy in post-revolutionary China)

霍元甲(about a martial artist in turn-of-the-century china)

英雄(hero)

无极(the promise, mythical love story set in ancient china)

A bunch of stuff with Simon Yang (任达华) or Stephen Chow (周星驰) (黑社会，以和为贵，功夫，整蛊专家，食神,跟从)

落叶归根(comedy about bring a friend's body home)

老港正传(mr. cinema-love story of family and childhood sweethearts)

Adios amigos,
Jeff

Minutes from 1/27/08:

Hola

The first TAS board meeting of the year was a rousing success.
